First points in Sochi!
The leader of the Minsk Cycling Club road team Aliaksandr Kuchynski finished fourth at the Sochi Cup and collected first points for the Belarusian club.
The one-day race Sochi Cup turned out difficult for the riders due to weather conditions. Rain and heavy wind accompanied the peloton during 150 km of the distance. Only 29 from 161 riders on the start list managed to cross the finishing line. Among them two representatives of the Minsk team. Moreover, Aliaksandr Kuchynski was close to finish on the podium.
The leader of the Minsk Cycling Club broke away from the start followed by the compatriot Uladzimir Harakhavik from the Belarus national team and two Russian athletes – Igor Kuznetsov (Tyumen) and Andrei Solomennikov (Rusvelo). The highly reduced peloton didn’t manage to catch them and the gap was almost 2 minutes with 300 m remaining. Harakhavik attacked, but both Russian were waiting for the sprint of Kuchynski and let him go. When they woke up, it was two late. The young Belarusian rider crossed the finishing line first, Kuznetsov was second, Solomennikov – third, Kuchynski – fourth.
Another Minsk Cycling Club rider Kanstantsin Klimiankou finished on 25 th position.
The Sochi Cup race brought to Belarus 52 point to the UCI ranking: Harakhavik – 40, Kuchynski – 12.
