Minsk riders claimed mountain and sprint jerseys at Tour of Bulgaria
The riders of Minsk Cycling Club continental team won two classifications at the 65th edition of the international stage race Tour of Bulgaria: Stanislau Bazhkou secured the polka-dot jersey and Yauhen Sobal became the best sprinter.
The leading position of Yauhen Sobal in the sprint classification before Stage 6 was indisputable. The Belarusian rider worked hard at intermediate sprints during previous stages to claim the green jersey.
This allowed to the team to focus on helping Stanislau Bazhkou to win the polka-dot jersey. The Minsk rider got it after his main opponent Andrii Bratashchuk (Kolss) didn’t start the last stage.
The Minsk riders allowed their team-mate to cross the 1st category KOM finish first and keep the jersey. After that they switched to the stage finish. Unfortunately, with 2km to go Bazhkou got his wheel in a hole and failed to fight for the stage victory.
The Stage 6 podium was topped by the Ukrainian rider Vitaliy Buts (Kolss).
Bazhkou finished in top-8 overall. The other Minsk riders have the following positions in the GC: Kliminankou - 27th, Sobal – 36th, Golovash – 43, Piashkun – 54th.
